Home to The Greatest Spectacle in Racing, Indianapolis is the capital of the U.S. state of Indiana. According to the 2009 census its estimated population stands at 807,584 making it the 14th largest city in the United States. It is also the fastest growing city in the Midwest.

Some of the notable universities include the Ball State University, Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana, Oakland City University, The Art Institute of Indianapolis, Vincennes University Aviation Technology Center, the University of Indianapolis and the Butler University founded in1855 and formerly known as North Western Christian University.
Indianapolis showcases a rich and varied cultural heritage. The government has taken up many initiatives to ensure that Indianapolis is recognized as a destination for arts and culture. It has identified six official cultural districts that include Broad Ripple Village, Massachusetts Avenue, Fountain Square, The Wholesale District, Canal and White River State Park, and Indiana Avenue. These offer historic and cultural significance to the city and are transforming into major centers for tourism, commerce and residential living.
